I really need to tighten up the truss rod and head of my banjo. Both are a little loose, and it really effects the sound and playability of the instrument.

Tighten it up, P! Don't delay!
Indeed. My flute was refusing to play anything above an F until I got out my eyeglass repair kit and tightened about a dozen of the instrument's hundred-odd screws. New blog idea: The Tighten Up Report - Literal Edition, documenting the spectacular minutia of musical instrument maintenance.
