Hey, 'merica

The good news is that the presidential election is in effect a referendum on the war in Iraq. The bad news is America is dangerously unimpressed with the violence that still occurs daily. We're all consumed by how much gas costs, SITC, and Bill Clinton's vanity fair article. I realize that violence has a numbing effect, but too many of us, myself included, glaze over when we read this. Tighten up Estados Unidos, we're still paying a bejesus amount of money for a fool's war.

Since when is the Tighten Up Report your sounding board for anti-war messaging? Can't you start your own tangent blog elsewhere?

From 1983 to 1988, Saddam gassed 30,000 Kurds. (Amnesty International) The Iran-Iraq war claimed the lives of 500,000 Iraqis. Following the uprisings in Iraq in in 1991, Saddam killed 250,000 people and displaced 900,000, at least 200,000 of whom were Kurds who remain in Iran to this day. (Human Rights Watch)

Anytime you'd like come to Iraq and talk to Iraqis about how they are faring I will happily arrange for a plane trip for you. In the mean time, hope your arm chair is warm.
