Bloody well untight

This Range Rover commercial is nice to watch on mute, it's shot well, and I'm sure WASPS everywhere are wriggling around their seats with colonial era nostalgia. But if you turn the sound on, it becomes very stupid very quickly. First of all, in response to those questions: NO, SHUT UP. And secondly, it's awesome when some ad agency picks a song whose lyrics actually defeat the purpose of the message, e.g. Iggy Pop's "Lust For Life" on the Family Fun Ship (or what have you) ad. In this case, it's the Flaming Lips singing "Do You Realize", and what the chaps at Range Rover HQ don't seem to realize is that the rest of the song includes choice phrases like "...that everyone you know someday will die." So inspiring. Totally makes me want to shop 'til I drop.

Is the narrator that dude from Heroes?

(I'm pretty sure it's not, but sure sounds like him. Sadly, Sendhil Ramamurthy is not British. I wish he wouldn't feign the accent. I heart you, Heroes).

But Minna, don't you know that when the sun sets it doesn't actually go down, it's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round? Either optimistic or not, no way am I buying a range rover because of the Flaming fucking lips, who rule.

...this to say nothing of the fact that the photography and music could not be at greater loggerheads. poor form, RR.
