Bland chicken is unacceptable.

I got these Popeye's "spicy" chicken strips at a rest stop in Maryland on Friday. They were about as spicy as a glass of chocolate milk. Unacceptable. Also, the biscuit tasted like chemicals.

On the upside, they had Minute Maid grape soda, which was spectacular, tart, and refreshing.

Overall Popeye's experience: D-

Rest stop Popeyes should have a caveat. It should say on the menu "This Popeyes is neither as flavorful or moist as our usual product."

yeah but city popeyes are terrifying. Most of us, who live in NY or DC, do not have access to suburban fast food establishments. Really, the rest stop popeyes is the only one where I would eat!

I blame the state of Maryland. Virginia has prevented brand erosion at its rest stops by offering only a limited selection of plastic bottled soda, plastic wrapped cookies, and plastic tasting coffee, all of which is distributed by machine.
